This notice explains how iMISTech Institute (“we”, “us”), of 77 Herbert Macaulay Way, by Ondo Street (3rd Floor), Ebute Meta, Lagos State, Nigeria, handles personal data collected through this website. We are the controller of that data. We aim to follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and related regulations.
1. What we collect and why
- Contact form. Name, email, phone (optional), topic and message, so we can reply to you.
- Newsletter. Your email address, so we can send you updates. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in each email.
- Fellowship applications. Name, email, phone, country, the personal profile you write, your chosen route, and the CV and certificates you upload, so we can assess your application and administer any membership that follows.
- Summit registration. Name, email, phone, organisation (optional), how you will attend and any notes, so we can confirm your seat and send event information.
- Chat assistant. The messages you type, and your name, email and phone if you ask for a call back, so we can answer you and follow up.
- Technical data. Your IP address and browser details are recorded with form submissions and chats to help prevent spam and abuse.
2. Our lawful bases
We rely on your consent (which you give by ticking the box on each form, and can withdraw at any time), on taking steps you ask for before entering into a relationship with you (such as processing an application), and on our legitimate interests in keeping the website secure and understanding how it is used.
3. Documents you upload
CVs and certificates are stored privately on our servers. They are not available through any public web address and can be opened only by authorised staff after signing in. Please upload only documents relevant to your application.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site, under appropriate safeguards:
- hosting and email delivery providers, who process data on our behalf;
- our partner MCSC where your enquiry or application relates to CIMC or ICFA status or to the Global Professional Transformation Summit that it organises;
- if enabled, the provider of the language model that powers the chat assistant, which receives the text of your chat messages to produce a reply. Please do not share sensitive personal information in the chat;
- Google, only if you choose to load the map on the Contact page, or accept analytics cookies (see our cookie policy).
Some of these providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where that happens we take steps to ensure your data remains protected.
5. How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, and to meet legal or record-keeping obligations. Enquiries and chats are kept while they remain relevant. Application records and documents are kept while your application or membership is being processed and administered, then deleted or anonymised. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Ask us if you would like something deleted sooner.
6. Security
We use access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS), private storage for uploaded documents and rate-limiting on our forms. No system is perfectly secure, so please take care with what you share.
7. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you may ask us to give you access to your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or provide it in a portable form, and you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
